My friend said that his friend has japanese game for PSP and he couldn’t play it because of the memory card.
Or is it just that PSP has a special codes in order to play certain games…
I still have no idea about having Japanese game and English PSP.

From what I was told the games on PSP are region-free so you can play japanese psp games on a North American PSP; however, movies are region-encoded.

The memory card wont affect anything, what you need is a Japanese compatible operating system for the PSP, you can do this through hacking the PSP, or purchasing the Japanese PSP. I would recommend hacking the PSP because its much easier and cheaper to do

The PSP is region free, so you can play whatever games with whatever memory cards.

Nope. Your bud’s memory card is jacked. It’s not that it’s from America though. More than half of my games are Japanese, and I can play them with no trouble at all. Is his memory stick formatted correctly? All I can guess is that he’s not using a UMD disk, and he’s trying to playing an ISO/CSO file without a magic memory card.
