If my playstation 2 can play fake japanese games, does that mean it can play original japanese games as well?

Yes it should work as when i bought my PS1 and PS2 they were both already modded and i have original games for both of those.
I don’t feel comfortable buying pirated games, same with DVD movies

I have a PS2 that has been modded. They just add something called a mod chip with allows it to play fake games as well in addition to the originals. It will be able to play originals as well as fakes so no worries there.
