Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 3rd StoryIf you love import video games, you better start saving up now. June 24, 2010, is going to be one of those unimaginably massive release dates in Japan. Fortunately, almost all of the games released fall into two distinct genres – simulations and visual novels. So if you don’t fancy either, you might just walk away with your bank account intact.

Also, when I say simulations, I mean dating simulations. There’s tons for men and women making their debut that day. The one exception and general simulation/RPG game being released is Gust’s Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2 (PS3), the sequel to Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland. Like Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori uses 3D characters and environments.

To help make everything easier for you, here are the major June 24, 2010 Japanese simulation and visual novel releases organized by console. Remember, DSi, PS2 and Wii are region-locked systems, and some Xbox 360 games are region-locked as well. The DS, PSP and PS3 are region-free though, and can play games from any region.

  • Love Plus +: A rerelease of the girlfriend simulator Love Plus with additional content and features.
  • Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 3rd Story: A life/dating sim where you guide a girl through three years of high school and help her find a boyfriend.

  • Hana to Otome ni Shukufuku o: Harekaze no Okurimono: All I was able to determine was that it’s a visual novel.
  • Moujuutsukai to Oujisama: An RPG/dating sim for girls where a young beastmaster-in-training named Tiana acquires four animals which turn out t be cursed princes. She has to help save them and make them human again.

  • Totori no Atelier: Arland no Renkinjutsushi 2: Yup, it’s Atelier Totori. Like all games in the Atelier series, you’ll be taking missions to create items, and then going out into environments to collect ingredients and maybe take down an enemy or two.
  • White Album: Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide: A port of a PC, adult visual novel. The PS3 version is all-ages though, with voice acting. It’s about a college student who could fall in love with singing idols or fellow students. It was also turned into an anime and manga.
Starry Sky In Spring Portable PSP

  • Boku no Natsuyasumi Portable 2: Nazo Nazo Shimai to Chinbotsusen no Himitsu: This is a port of a PS2 game and is essentially a summer vacation simulation. You catch bugs, explore and enjoy a relaxing environment.
  • Chaos;Head Noah: A port of an Xbox 360 visual novel where a hermit-like boy named Takumi gets involved in a series of murders in Shibuya.
  • Clannad: Mitsumi Mamoru Sakamichi de – Gekan: A Clannad side story-spin off that focuses on the epilogues of Clannad and focuses on supporting characters from the main game.
  • D.C. Girl’s Symphony Pocket: A port of a PC dating visual novel for girls. You’re a school girl looking to find love with one of your classmates. It’s also known as Da Capo: Girl’s Symphony Pocket.
  • Narcissus: Moshimo Ashita ga Runara: Another PSP visual novel. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find any solid information about it and its premise.
  • Starry ☆ Sky ~In Spring~ Portable: The first of four PC to PSP ports of dating visual novels for girls. Each of the guys is inspired by certain zodiac signs. The three guys in In Spring represent Capricorn, Pisces and Cancer.
  • Uta no Prince-sama: This is a dating visual novel that looks like it may have simulation elements. You’re a song writer attending a school for singers and musical artists. You choose which guy to team up with, and then set out to help make him a star with your songs.

Xbox 360

  • Sengoku Hime: It’s an all ages release of the strategy/dating sim PC game of the same name. And it’s supposed to be really buggy and horrible. Moving on.

  • Twinkle Queen: Twinkle Queen is a bit of an anomaly, since it isn’t a dating sim or visual novel, but it can sort-of fit in with the other releases. It’s a fighting game, but a fighting game where all of the fighters are characters from adult visual novels.

Also, if you missed Hatsune Miku; Project Diva (PSP) the first time, you may want to pick it up then. The reduced-price best version comes out June 24, 2010 as well.

I’m looking forward to Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side: 3rd Story (DS) and Uta no Prince-sama (PSP) most. I must own 3rd Story. (The previous two games were amazing.)
