Atlus Catherine Vincent PS3 Xbox 360

Atlus’ Catherine won’t be officially released until February 17, 2011, but gamers will be able to get a sneak peek much sooner. You can test out the game for yourself next week. Well, anyone with Japanese PSN and Xbox Live Gold accounts will get to download the demo on January 27, 2011. Standard Japanese Xbox Live members will have to wait until February 3, 2011.

This is good news for gamers around the world, because all you’ll need to try Catherine out is a Japanese PlayStation Store or Xbox Live account. If you have one, then just log into it on your system and you should have no problem grabbing the demo. Playing it might be troublesome, since it’s going to be a text-heavy adventure at times, but still. Since the demo is said to a portion of the game’s opening, it shouldn’t be too difficult. The tower-climbing action part doesn’t even require text to understand. As long as you button mash the X or A button, you should be fine.

Plus, a demo can be very telling. While Catherine‘s supernatural story and fan-service has already earned it cult-classic buzz, the platforming aspect’s quality has been called into question. This way, people can see if the game is capable of making crate-moving fun.
