Red Wii Remote Super Mario Bros 25th AnniversaryBored of black and white Wiis? Then it’s time to add a little color to your life. Unfortunately, an unusual Wii is quite a luxury, and one that Nintendo is only bringing to Japan. On top of all the other Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary items, Nintendo’s announced a special Mario Red Wii bundle. Yes, that is the actual and official name for that particular shade used on that Wii and Wii remote.

The Mario Red Wii bundle is actually quite different than the Wii bundles you see everyday in stores. It comes with one of those new Wiimote Plus controllers, which is a Wii remote with the Motion-Plus peripheral built in. It also comes with a red Wii and nunchuk. Most notable is the 25th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. game preloaded onto the system, which has a few new graphics included. For example, all “?” blocks now have “25” on them. It also doesn’t include Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort.

If you want one, then importing is your best option. You’ll need to dig up ¥20,000 (~$243) and find a site online willing to sell you one, of course. It comes out November 11, 2010, but any site that will carry it will probably start taking preorders very soon. Remember, if you do import this particular Wii, it will be region-locked and only able to play Japanese Wii and GameCube games. But hey, at least you’ll be able to play Captain Rainbow and Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse!
