SKE48 Rena Matsui Jurina MatsuiMicrosoft’s hoping Japanese pop can help save the day and bolster Kinect sales in Japan. The company is teaming up with SKE48 to have two of its most prominent members promote the game. Rena Matsui and Jurina Matsui, who also perform in AKB48, will become Kinect, a limited time music group, and appear in a Kinect commercial with Keiji Mutoh, president of All Japan Pro Wrestling.

SKE48 will also provide a song for a second commercial called “1, 2, 3, 4, Yoroshiku.” Loosely translated, it comes out to “1, 2, 3, 4, Nice to Meet You.” Also,  Rena and Jurina will perform a duet called “Two Roses,” though it wasn’t mentioned if “Two Roses” will appear in the background of the Kinect commercial in which they will appear. Both songs will be released on a “1, 2, 3, 4, Yoroshiku” single on November 17, 2010.

SKE48 is an all-girls J-Pop band directly related to AKB48. It was created after AKB48 with the idea of possibly making the whole 48 member group thing a nation-wide project in Japan. Ironically, there are less than 48 members in SKE48. Also, SKE48 differs from AKB48 as it is divided into two teams, Team S and Team Kii, where AKB48 is divided into three teams, Teams A, K and B.
