Sony PlayStation Portable PSP Value Pack for Girls JapanSony has three new PSP bundles coming out in Japan soon, all targeted towards specific demographics. On February 17, 2011, anyone in Japan with ¥19,800 (~$240) can get one of two different Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Value Packs or a PSP Value Pack for Girls.

The Value Pack for Girls is seen at the right and, as you can see, it’s got a nice pink thing going on. You get a PSP-3000 in pink, pink headphones, a pink and black carrying case, a pink screen cleaner and a 2gb memory stick. The pink PSP alone used to cost ¥16,800 (~$200) in Japan, though it’s pretty hard to find a new one alone now.

The two Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Value Packs are pretty similar. They both come with a PSP-3000, a copy of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and a screen cleaner. The only difference is one has a red and black color scheme, and the other has a blue and white color scheme. You can see the blue and white one below.

I’m going to say it right now – I don’t care that the Value Pack for Girls costs the same price as the two Monster Hunter Portable 3rd PSP packs yet doesn’t even include a game. It would match my DS and my computer, and that’s enough for me. Plus, it has a 2gb memory stick included! The people who get the Monster Hunter packs will have to go and buy one separately – especially if they want to play and enjoy their new game! Of course, if Sony really wanted to be fair and continue the theme, then it would have packed a copy of MonHun Nikki in the Value Pack for Girls – the Monster Hunter spin-off starring cute versions of the Felyne characters.

If you’re interested in either value bundle, don’t be afraid to import. The PSP is a region-free device. So you’ll be able to play games from anywhere on it. You’ll also be able to set the system’s language the first time you turn it on and set it up. The only quirk is, you won’t be able to play movie UMDs from North America on a Japanese system.
